A few years in the past, on the Symposium of Neuroradiology in Rome, ZIEDSES DES PLANTES made a decisive contribution to cerebral angiography with photographic subtraction. From this time on, technical advances, anatomical findings, healing assessments comparable to embolization, improvement of stereo taxy, and automatic axial tomography have opened a large box for cerebral angiography. those vital findings grew to become the topic of a systematic assembly. the standard of the shows and the result of each one re port made this a best symposium. i'm very thankful to all those that contributed to make it a hit. Example text

The template we use in assigning areas to the distribution of the branches is based on these fixed anatomical points. 5 em on a line up the axis of the sylvian fissure from the tuberculum sella, and then bisecting the remainder of the line we have a point that lies directly in front of the transverse gyrus of Heschl (the clino-parietal line of TAVERAS (4) may be 25 used instead of estimating the axis of the vessels). A line upward from this point, parallel to the coronal suture, passes behind the central sulcus and is an excellent reference for the marginal ramus on the medial aspect of the hemisphere.

The major vessel behind the central sulcus, by long usage, is called the posterior parietal, although it is really not very posterior. There are sometimes two vessels instead of one, the smaller supplementary branch being either in front or behind the major one. The result is that in a small, very critical area, the number of arteries varies from one to four. The Vermont philosophy in such cases is to only assign names to the branches that are constant, so we do not differentiate between anterior and posterior parietal branches, but call the smaller branch an accessory artery.

It rapidly enters the calcarine fissure and continues within it to the occipital pole.
